Sadhguru

Sadhguru (Jaggi Vasudev, 1957) is an Indian yogi, mystic, and author. He has become internationally known through his lectures, books, and the founding of the Isha Foundation. He combines ancient yogic wisdom with modern themes such as leadership, spirituality, and ecology.

His core message

“True transformation begins from within. By mastering your inner state, you live in joy and contribute to a more conscious and harmonious world.”

Foundations of Sadhguru

Inner Engineering (inner transformation)

  • His most important program and philosophy: don’t work on the world around you first, but on your inner state.
  • Your well-being, joy, and clarity come from within, not from external circumstances.
  • Through yoga, breathwork (pranayama), and meditation, you can “redesign” your interior.

Freedom & responsibility

  • True freedom comes with responsibility: you take ownership of your life and consciously choose your thoughts, emotions, and actions.

The importance of inner joy (bliss/ānanda)

  • Happiness does not depend on success, possessions, or relationships.
  • A stable, joyful state of being makes you free and effective in the world.

Living in harmony with nature

  • He emphasizes that humans are not separate from the earth: “The earth is not something you live on, it is that which you are made of.”
  • He started initiatives like Rally for Rivers and Cauvery Calling to promote reforestation and water conservation in India.

Human as consciousness, not as body/mind

  • He emphasizes that we often identify with our body or our thoughts, while our deepest being is consciousness.
  • By expanding your consciousness, you transcend fear, suffering, and attachment.

Spirituality is practical

  • Not religion or dogma, but practical methods to develop consciousness.
  • He stresses that spirituality does not mean withdrawing from the world, but being fully and joyfully present in the world.

Yoga as a science of life

  • For him, yoga is not just physical postures, but a complete system to balance body, mind, emotions, and energy.
  • He often speaks about four paths of yoga: Karma (action), Bhakti (devotion), Kriya (energy), and Jnana (knowledge).
